Hello! And Welcome to The Liquid Epicurean!
First, I suppose, I ought to tell you a little about myself, and about what I hope to do with this site.
First, and primarily, I am a Christian. I also enjoy a well-made cocktail or finely crafted glass of wine. I do not believe that these two qualities are mutually exclusive. I do not believe I am setting a bad example, nor do I believe that I am betraying my witness by enjoying a good drink.
Which leads me to my second point. Alcohol is not a joke. I do not endorse, or tolerate irresponsible drinking or drunkenness. I believe that everyone who enjoys a good drink can, and should, know what is appropriate and draw the line well in front of their personal limits. I will not make jokes about drinking or drunkenness. I believe firmly that alcohol consumption is intended for adults, and is to be done responsibly. I do not believe that young people have the bodies, nor the judgment, to imbibe in a responsible way. Unfortunately, neither do some adults.
At any rate, now that that is out of the way, here is a brief rundown of what I hope this site will be.
Intermittently, hopefully regularly, I'll post my thoughts concerning a range of wine and cocktail-related subjects. If I try an especially good cocktail recipe, I'll blog about it. If I open a particularly enjoyable bottle of wine, I'll blog about it. If I discover a new type or label of spirit, I'll blog about it. If I visit a restaurant that makes an exceptional Old Fashioned, I'll blog about it. I may also, from time to time, blog about a film I've seen, a piece of music I'm enjoying, or a maybe a particularly good meal I've eaten. Basically, if something strikes me as pertinent to the subject line of this blog - wine, cocktails, and classic culture - I'm liable to blog about it.
Anyway, again, welcome. I'm very glad you've found me, and I hope you'll enjoy reading and participating in the discussions here.
